| By 16 weeks your baby is about 12cm long and weighs about 130 g. Although the baby is small, all the limbs and feature are formed and in proportion to one another. The skin is fine, translucent and the underlying blood vessels are clearly evident because the fat layer of the skin has not yet developed. Activity has increased greatly by this stage and your baby will be making fists, sucking its thumb, flexing and extending fingers, arms and legs is also common. The facial muscles are more developed and the baby can make - but not control facial expressions. The bones in the ears are continuing to form and the baby is starting to hear its first sounds, fine eyebrows and eye lashes are also evident. Other senses continue their development and, the eyes although still closed, are sensitive to light, and the taste buds are forming on the tongue | ||||||||||
